OUGD4O3 : How to... Self Evaluation

How to... - Self Evaluation

What role(s) did you take on in the group?
My role in our group was the illustrator. I designed each individual character for the flashcards. I also made the improvements to our flashcards after the crit.

How well do you think you performed in the role(s)?
I think I performed very well in my role as I don’t have a lot of software experience. I do think I could have improved the designs if I had had more time.

How well do you think you worked as a group?
As a group we worked really well together though we are all completely different from each  other. I think as a group we all complimented each other and I would be happy to work with this group of girls again.

What were the positives of working in a group?
  • More ideas
  • More eyes to judge work
  • Better input
  • constant improvements

What were the negatives of working in a group?
  • Your ideas are limited
  • Communication
  • Roles

What will you do differently next time?
  • more research
  • more of the product
  • extras
  • improving feedback.. maybe a facebook page

Where could you have improved your resolution?
Our cards are very simple which can be seen as a positive however I personally would have liked them to have more to them

What were the strengths of your presentation?
  • team work
  • organised
  • didn’t talk over each other
  • showed every aspect of the brief

OUGD403 - How To... : Crit

Group Crit

We were split into crit groups where we had to present our work to another group of people, we then gave feedback on each others designs. I found this very beneficial as students are our audience, it was great to get feedback on what we need to improve as well as what work we have produced that is very good.

The feedback we got from our crit was very helpful:

  • More Clarity
  • More explanation of where and when we are going to give it to students
  • Check that the slang is correct
  • Maybe more on accents rather than slang
  • With regards to our 3min presentation we needed to each have our own element to talk about
  • Enlarge text
  • Try another layout
  • Take the text out of the speech bubble
  • Missed the point, should have done accents rather than slang
  • Size
These suggestions were very helpful though we decided to keep some aspects of our designs the same as we felt that they were sufficient and answered the brief. We did, however take lots of the suggestions on  board and changed our designs significantly to appeal to the audience.

After our first progress crit we chose to change our final flashcards to make them more user friendly and accessible.

I find inspiration from almost everyone I meet, whether it be their work, something they say or just their personality.

  • Music

Music is another huge inspiration of mine as song lyrics say everything better than I ever could.

  • Pinterest

I recently discovered Pinterest and found it very useful in looking at other peoples interests and comparing them to my own.
