Today we had a group discussion about the name of our blog and also which images we should use to represent different categories within graphic design.
Some members of the group felt that the name we came up with (Design Prescription) was not strong enough and were very negative towards the idea. After a short debate we were then faced with another name idea of Designpplement which is a mix of two words, Design and Supplement. The feelings towards this name were also quite negative as we felt that it sounded like it was aimed at an older target audience. After a group brainstorm and a few heated conversations we came to the agreement on the name Designers Dose. This is a perfect compromise between the two names as it is a happy medium between both topics. We were also limited by the blog name which was available, fortunately neither of our preferred name ideas were available on WordPress saving us many more debates.
Another topic of debate was the use of pills or vitamins as images to represent each category. I personally have doubts about the use of pills as a representation as I feel it is approaching the sensitive subject of drugs. As students are stereotyped a lot of the time with drugs as the main association I do not feel that this is a positive thing to promote. As within all group work the majority rules and I was beat out on this point. However, I have asked that we use the colour scheme more creatively to steer away from the topic of drugs.
As we are all close friends within the group we are finding that our personalities are clashing quite a lot but I do feel that because we are close friends this helps us to become a stronger group and work off each others ideas and emotions.
